![]() ![]() Overall I really liked the kind of simplicity of their sound it is still very rich and textured but in terms of what they are playing melodically it isn't necessarily that complicated, but then I don't think songs need to be complicated in order to be effective and powerful. I also think one of my favorite ever songs Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group must have been influenced by it as they sound quite alike, especially in the song structure and drum parts. I also quite liked Rat Salad actually, that one surprised me as it reminds me a little bit of some funk rock. I particularly love how it's quite soft and yet still has such a dark brooding atmosphere. Planet Caravan I think was my favorite and I've already relistened to it numerous times since last night. I love how the whole album wasn't consistently heavy, that it kind of ebbs and flows in intensity from song to song. This is crazy, I just happened to listen to this album for the first time last night! I already knew Paranoid and Iron Man of course but I felt like I was vaguely familiar with all the songs on there. Great album and I highly recommend if you haven't listened to it. The sound, concepts, tone, I feel is atmospheric in a way. Almost every song I can listen to, Rat Salad not so much. This is one of those albums I never get tired of. The drums and strange flute, something about it I like a lot. Within just over two years, Black Sabbath released four albums and birthed something much bigger than themselves: heavy metal. It's different, with the calm/weird singing from Ozzy. Like a premonition before a nuclear alarm goes off. ![]() Fun to listen to, gives you an apocalyptic feeling. Songs such as War Pigs, Hand of Doom, and Electric Funeral. The eerie tone of it all, makes me love it even more. Very different, from what you would hear on anyone's radio back then. But also strange, because most of the songs are super dark. Hearing Paranoid when it came out, must've been a breath of fresh air. Though, I feel they didn't execute it well like Sabbath. Zeppelin and Pink Floyd dabbled in dark concepts and tones. I think Sabbath was in a lane of their own when this came out. Some call it the beginning of Metal or label it "Doom Metal". Many unique tracks and concepts on there. ![]()
